It is now my 6th week in for my student teaching internship and things are going pretty well. I got really sick during my 3rd week and should have stayed home but I was too worried that I would get behind on things so I went everyday even though I had a fever 3 of the days...not too smart.
I had my 3rd UIC observation yesterday and I have my 4th observation and midterm evaluation next week. After this evaluation I need to be observed by one of the administration at the high school, and once they "approve" me to teach at their school then I can apply for my sub-certificate! My cooperating teacher is missing 2 days at the end of this month and 2 days at the beginning of April, so if I get all my paperwork and observations taken care of and apply for my sub-certificate then I will get paid to teach when she is gone!! SAWEEEET!! My students seem to think it is pretty funny that I am paying to be there everyday to help them instead of getting paid to do so...
I have been pretty caught up in student teaching and really haven't done anything after I leave the school besides work at the Shrimp Shack on Monday nights. I usually just go home and go for a jog, lay on the couch and relax or plan/grade for school. I haven't been doing anything with friends during the week so I decided it was about time I did. I met a Woodring friend, Katie, tonight at Wasabee for dinner and it was really great catching up. She is doing her student teaching internship right now as well so it was really nice having someone else to talk to about that and hearing how her experience is going. When I got home another Woodring friend, Michael, called me (which is ironic because the 3 of us were really close while in Woodring and I swear Michael can sense whenever Katie and I get together because that is always when he calls me...this is the 3rd time it's happened :)) Anyway, it was nice catching up with him as well. He finished his internship last quarter and is now subbing. It's nice to talk with friends who are doing/recently done what I am doing because they understand exactly how things are.
But anyway...about not doing anything after school, I decided to go crazy tonight by going to dinner with a friend AND bowling with my fellow Shrimp Shack employees...I am exhausted and just want to go to bed but I know I'll have fun once I get there...so I'M GOING!
until next time :)
